Frequently Asked Questions

Want to find out more about our AT&T check? Get answers to some common queries below.

What’s FED?

FED stands for financial eligibility date. This is the date when a phone stops having a financial obligation to its contracted network or provider. After this date has expired the phone can be legitimately transferred over to another network.

What’s a phone blacklist?

If a phone’s been reported as lost or stolen its IMEI is added to a shared database of blacklisted devices. This database is used by most network providers. Phones bought in contract but with unpaid bills and those detected to be involved in fraudulent activity are also included on this list.

What happens if my phone is blacklisted?

Mobile phone operators will not provide a service to blacklisted devices. So, if your device is registered as blacklisted it’s unlikely you’ll be able to use it to make calls, send text messages or connect to the internet.

What’s an IMEI number?

An IMEI or International Mobile Equipment Identity (IMEI) number is a 15-digit number that’s unique to all GSM (Global System for Mobile) mobile phones and smartphones.

What’s a GSM phone?

GSM or Global System for Mobile is the international standard for mobile telecommunications. If your device uses a SIM card, it’s likely to be a GSM phone. All GSM phones have an IMEI number.

How do I find my IMEI number?

There are three options.

  • The easiest is to type *#06# into your smartphone keypad and your unique, 15-digit, IMEI (International Mobile Equipment Identity) number will appear on your screen.
  • Another way is to go to Settings/About Phone/Status/IMEI Information
  • Or remove the battery and locate it on the white label underneath (the first 15 digits are the IMEI number)
